Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) are small-scale power generation units that are located close to the point of consumption. This includes technologies like rooftop solar photovoltaics, battery storage systems that can provide power during outages or peak demand, and fuel cells which can generate electricity on-site. Biomass generators, especially if small and localized for a community or facility, can also function as DERs by utilizing local fuel sources for power generation.
